The best Super Bowl ads that you couldn't see in Canada
We all know the real reason anyone watches the Super Bowl is to see the ads - at least that's what I've observed. There is usually just as much hype leading up to the big day for the over-priced ads as there is for the over-paid players.
I've also noticed a steady decline in the 'awesomeness' factor of the ads. They used to be so dependable, so reliably funny, smart and entertaining. Now they're mostly whacky concepts and more often than not include animals put in human roles. That said, there were some good ones this year, including a few from Doritos and Audi that I found to be pretty funny.
So without further delay, click the read more link to watch some of the best ads we could find.
Don't forget to let us know which were your favs and if we missed any good ones.
Update: Added another Doritos ad - thanks to Gary for pointing it out!
Doritos: House Rules
Another gem from Doritos. I don't want to ruin this one because it may be my new fav.
GoDaddy.com: Spa
This ad makes the list because GoDaddy.com can't stop producing odd ads starring Danica Patrick
Snickers: Game
Hilarious ad that finally answers a question that has been plaguing me for years: Can Betty White run a button-hook? Answer; yes.
Emerald Nuts and Pop Secret: Awesomer
This ad makes the list because it is a little surreal, but it is also called 'Awesomer' - which is something I can get behind.
Doritos: Snack Attack Samurai
Not going to lie, this one caught me off-guard and made me laugh.
CareerBuilder.com: Casual Friday
This ad is funny because not only does it have a great concept, but it actually finds a way to relate back to the product it is advertising.
Google: Parisian Love
Uh - since when does Google need to advertise? I think when your company name becomes a verb, you're set.
Bridgestone: Whale of a Tale
I like this ad because it is what would happen if 'The Hangover' and 'Free Willy' had a baby.
Dodge Charger: Man's Last Stand
Love the concept - now if only it was for a car people actually bought.
Hyundai Sonata: 10 Years Strong
It is 10 years from now and Brett Favre has not yet retired. Fact or fiction?
Coke: Sleepwalker
Coke finally puts out an ad that doesn't contain creepy animated polar bears.
Audi: Green Car
This is probably my favorite ad out of the bunch. Very well executed concept that is very topical and current.
Kia: Big Game
I am still not 100% what just happened. But I like the soundtrack.
Intel: Lunch Room
Get it? The poor robot is so technologically advanced - but the chip is even more advanced. Fun ad, but why the heck is Intel even advertising?
Taco Bell: It Rocks, It Rocks
Charles Barkley quasi-rapping. What else could you possibly need?
E*TRADE: Girlfriend
The popular E*TRADE baby is back, this time with some real-life issues.
I thought the Audi 2010 Green Car commercial was awesome. By far the best of all the commercials I watched. Nexted I enjoyed the E Trade one. It was quick and witty. The snickers commerial was good.
Unfortenately we Canadians do not get to enjoy these commerials at air time. What is the explanation for this? I mean a good, reasonable one.

Not sure i understand Liz's comment or the story line. Live in Kingston, Ontario - watched the game on CBSHD channnel and saw every commercial......wierd.

That Audi commercial actually had the opposite effect on me. I found it turned me off of the concept of going green. The whole eco-nazi thing is too close to reality to be that funny. Or maybe they didn't do a good job delivering the concept in the commercial. Not sure.
- The Snickers commercial gave me a chuckle.
- Godaddy needs to freshen up their commercials - too predictable.
- The Etrade commercials are always funny.
- The Kia commercial - all I can say is WTF??
- The coke commercial was dumb and felt long
- The Charger , Google and Career Builder had some punch
- The Taco Bell was lame lame lame
Overall, nothing overly stellar this year.

Just our Canadian Cable providers making another bunch of money. Even if you watch it on a supposed "American Channel", they cut in to the telecast and substitute Canadian commercials that we have already seen many times before in order to resell the whole advertising product to be watched by all of us suckers tuning in to see some "new" material in between plays of a pretty darn football game. Sort of "Double Dipping".

I live in NB and have Rogers VIP. Channel 523 CBSHD - I saw every commercial, unlike last year. I was a little disappointed. There are not any that I want to bring up with my friends today. The beer guys need some fresh material.

Canadian TV Sucks!!
Specially on the Super Bowls days..
Why do we have to be dennied of one of the important parts of the Super bowl celebration?
TV commercials are part of the party, along with the game....And the people who run TV channels here knows it...
And the worse part was in the Halftime show, after the musical part, someone(only a STUPID CANADIAN) decided to show the main musical theme for the Vancouver Olimpics....Deep inside me I wanted to trow a rock to the TV...Olimpics start on friday..not yesterday..
Comm'on HALTIME REPORT is important too....Let me guess.........AH.....the guy who runs the programming doesn't knows a penny of Futball..that's why.
Geeee.......

I think one of the best ones was the McDonalds commercial with Lebron and Dwight Howard. It spoofed the old ad between Larry Bird and MJ. It was pretty funny

I loved the Dorito ad with the dog putting the collar on the man and taking the Dorito's
Great laugh

E-trade was hilarious - love those kids!

Think the KIA commercial was all about toys--the toys that we played with all the time as favourites when we were young...and the toy we play with now that we're all grown up -- the KIA -- with the next generation of kid toy user in the back seat...
My take anyway

I live in Alberta and caught all of the commericals on CBS HD. Maybe the thought police in Canada have not figured out to stop US commericals on HD>
Aside from that the for the most part the commericals where a chuckle and the game good.

The Kia commercial was cute....it's implication was juvenile but we all have our childhood memories right?

The ads were OK But the game was not as exciting as the Grey Cup.

I can't believe the Budweiser one with the foal growing up with the bull was not on here. That one was just sooooo great. (Far better than the Godaddy ones or even the Coke one.) I loved it.

Just so everyone knows....the reason why Liz did not see the Commercials is the same reason why I didn't......we dont have HD channels. Regular television did not have the commercials as they were only made for HD. Leave her alone....she's not an idiot, she just still has the poor mans television.....as many of us do!! BTW...the uadi commercial was AWESOME!!!
