golf clubs, golf balls, golf equipment, titleist

Golf ball industry leader Titleist has released new versions of its popular NXT Tour golf ball. The NXT Tour (longer) and NXT Tour S (more spin) see some serious advancement in golf ball technology, especially at the price point that the NXT Tour comes in at. Titleist has been able to increase the quality of the ball, not only in the cover (a soft, thin Fusablend cover with a new dimple pattern) but in the core as well (new large dual core). New this year for Titleist is the option of a high optic yellow colour golf ball (NXT Tour S only), which consumers seem to be buying up like crazy -- of note, this is not Titleist's first foray into yellow golf balls, they had a yellow DT ball in the 1980's.

From the press release:

NXT Tour S features a new, proprietary low compression, highly resilient core, in combination with the same soft, thin Fusablend cover formulation and aerodynamics as the New NXT Tour.   NXT Tour S offers a softer compression feel than its counterpart and, like NXT Tour, offers low driver and long iron spin for outstanding distance, a piercing trajectory and consistent ball flight, and commanding short game spin and control.  As another preference option for golfers, the New NXT Tour S is offered in white and high optic yellow.

Titleist also let loose a new version of the DT Solo, and a new distance ball, Velocity. Look for Titleist's latest golf balls in stores in mid February 2012.

Tcs-stuff-scooter-backpack-jan23-2012

If you're anything like me, you've often thought 'I would really use my scooter more if I had somewhere to put it after I am done riding it'. Well good news folks, Gustavo Brenck has designed the answer to our problems with his 'gig pack'. This backpack/scooter combo is a brilliant idea for quick commutes and has enough room for your personal gear including enough space for a laptop. The aluminum scooter attaches to the nylon backpack, all the rider needs to do is unzip the pack and clip the back wheels and platform into the front wheels.

Sheer brilliance.

Brenck is quoted as saying "Now there are no more excuses not to use alternative transportation and avoid traffic."

Tcs-stuff-nike-tennis-vapor-9-shoe-jan17

What happens when tennis superstar Roger Federer and a top Nike designer get together? The Nike Zoom Vapor 9, a highly-touted tennis shoe that feels more like a running shoe and looks more like a future-shoe. The press release gets into the details:

An innovative fit system uses “fingers” on the outside and a loop system on the inside. When the laces get cinched tight, the fingers mold to the shape of the individual foot, resulting in a customized fit that continues to adapt as the foot moves during a match. Wrapping the laces all the way to the bottom of the arch further enhances the glove-like feel and a synthetic-leather quarter panel overlay adds to the firm fit.

Lightweight mesh throughout the shoe helps keep the foot cool. And the TPU foot-frame from the mid-foot to the heel delivers stability and protection during the quick slides and directional changes of a competitive match. Rubber overlays in high-wear areas improve durability. Soft and springy Lunar cushioning and a Nike Zoom unit in the heel work together for exceptional comfort and impact protection.

We think they look awesome, comfortable and light, which we're guessing are all pretty solid benefits on the tennis court.

Tcs-stuff-taylormade-rocketballz-golf-equipment-jan-12-2012
TaylorMade Golf is coming out swinging in 2012. Their big push for golf equipment this spring will likely be the golf club line with the most love-it-or-hate-it name of the decade. Rocketballz (or RBZ). Rocketballz generated a massive amount of buzz months before anyone had even seen a photo of the golf clubs. Our take on the name is that if you're a sports nut, you'll love it. If you are a golf purist, you will hate it. But with a claim of being 17 yards longer than your current 3 wood (17 yards is all they could legally claim, some people are getting even more yardage out of it), how could you not pay attention to this club? The fairway wood gets you this yardage with the help of a lower center of graviry, a bigger face and a 'speed pocket'. The speed pocket lets the club face compress more, adding to the trampoline effect of the face, effectively increasing ballspeed at impact. We've seen the club in person and don't let the looks of the technology put you off: it is gorgeous. Also look for Rocketballz drivers, hybrids, irons and golf balls.

Tcs-stuff-jan-11-adidas-golf-shoe-powerband-4

adidas Golf has taken their sport shoe to the next level with the adidas Golf Powerband 4.0 golf shoe. The idea behind this shoe is the maximize your power output using the Powerband Chassis, which 'provides extraordinary lateral stability from the ground up to allow for faster, more aggressive golf swings and a stretch resistant synthetic overlay for added stability and durability.' The shoe also utilizes adidas Golf’s FitFOAMTM insole for maximum comfort and support and their THINTECHTM spikes get you closer to the turf. We like the design of this shoe a lot, and the splash of vivid colour definitely captures what will be hot for spring 2012 on the course. A mere $150 USD will get these kicks on your feet.

Tcs-stuff-jan10-nike-golf-method-concept

Nike Golf officially announced the latest model to their golf putter line -- the Method Concept. Now this doesn't look like your standard simple putter (which Nike also makes) but rather a putter from the future where golf is played on 12,000 yard golf courses. The steel and aluminum body, built into a unique shape, help break up the weight to benefit your putting stroke (heavier in the back). The red paint makes it look sweet and the polymetal grooves (a staple of the Method family of putters) gets that ball rolling quickly. Hits the streets mid-February for roughly $229.
