Fantastic wrap-up! What a great way to read all about a great night for this country at the Olympics!

betting on usa cause canada owes you!!! Canada owes you nothing!! You get merely what you put in for effort every day. Want something, go get it, create what you want.... dont expect results without it.... Canada provides all the potential you could ask for... ask many around the world about their countries potential! Canada doesnt limit you - YOU DO!!!!

Awesome, Canada! You're all an amazing team! Woohoo!!

THIS MESSAGE WAS BROUGHT TO YOU FROM A PROUD CANADIAN !!!

Congatulations to ALL the Canadian athletes who paticipated in these Olympic Games

WAY TO GO TEAM CANADA. YOU MAKE US PROUD TO BE CANADIANS. EVERYTIME I SEE A CANADIAN ON THE PODIUM IT BRINGS TEARS TO MY EYES. WHETHER IT BE GOLD SILVER OR BRONZE. YOU GUYS AND GIRLS ARE THE BEST.

Team Canada U R the BEST! ALL OF U really make us proud to be Canadian.

P.S.: Marie: silver is NOTHING to spit on girly NEITHER is the bronze. OUR athletes r competing against ALL THE BEST ATHLETES IN THE WORLD so girl please don't spit on any medals OR EVEN on any efforts made by any member of our team.

Tks hon! ;)

Hey Ann ... If ya like the US so much we have a bus here in Windsor that goes across the border. Come on down I will gladly pay the fare to ship your sorry - - - out o Canada!!! Go Canada!!!

OOPS my mistake the previous comment goes to selles. Sorry Ann

So very proud to be Canadian - our athletes have done so much for us and the sponsors as well. Do you ever notice that most medalists say "this is (medal) is for all Canadians? What a way to bring a country together. Congrats to all of them, podium, making it to the Olympics and those that tried so hard to get there and didn't. We are proud of you all! Go team Canada go!!

Swazman51 - do you not get what Selles is saying?? They are just saying that they "themselves" never win when they bet... so that is why they are "cheering" for the USA... cause then the USA will LOSE!!! They are rooting for Canada... that's what I got anyway.... I think we all are proud to be Canadian....

I am a proud Canadian and I am extremely proud of the athletes competing in these games. I fear the media created too great an expectation on the way they presented the "Own The Podium" program. 10 Gold medals, obviously the program has been a success. I think all the athletes are great Canadians and the way Canada has come together, we need apologize to no one.
My only concern is our Men's hockey team are not playing to their potential. While I desperately want, wish and hope they win, I fear they may not unless they start to play hockey.. They need to take a page from the women's book of action. I believe the only game they played hockey like the can was against Russia. I hope the rivalry with the US lights their spark. I want them to succeed but they need to want it and play like they want it too. should they do that win or loose I will be proud of their effort.
GO CANADA GO.

Team Canada you have really made us stand tall and proud. We salute you and you are always in our prays.

Hey, Marie, since when does winning silver in curling mean we're not good at the sport? The team did a great job. Congrats to all of our Canadian athletes!!!

CONGRATS TO ALL OF THE CANADIAN ATHLETES, WE ARE SOOOO SOOOO PROUD OF YOU ALL, CAN'T WAIT TILL HOCKEY PLAYS FOR THE GOLD. WE ARE SO THERE WITH YOU! BRAVO TO ALL

that\s exactly what I got out of selles' comment Christine, that he really is rooting for Canada, just going about it in a different way from past experiences of betting lol

GO GO CANADA GO~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)HAVE FUN WIN THE GOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!YAYAYA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I LOVE CANADA!!!!!!!!!!!!

FOLKS - YOU DO NOT WIN A SIVER MEDAL - YOU LOOSE THE GOLD and get the Silver medal as a kind of consolation prize. Now that you understand how this works, it is a shame the women's curling team lost their focus and blew their Gold Medal game... and if the men's hockey team decides it call lay-back on its laurels at anytime when playing the US for Gold, the outcome will be exacxtly the same as what happened to the lady curlers!
Friday belonged to the 500m and 5,000m Men Skaters and know one else because they finished the task at hand - THEY WON GOLD !

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!WE HAVE 8 GOLDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!GO GO CANADA GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!WE R SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD IN THE OLYMPCS!!!!!!!!!;)!!!!!!!HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
P.S. I WACH THE OLYMPICS ALL THE TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO CANADA GO!!!!!!!!!

CANADA WILL WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND NO WE DO NOT!!!!

: Go CANADA Go :
Congrats to all the athlets they work very hard in all the field & it's very nice to see women's hockey with the Gold & now Me's Hockey for the Gold for sure. & we are confident on our athlets to bring more medals on the table : GO CANADA GO :
GOD Bless All

To be Canadian is a FANTASTIC feeling! When we win Gold, Silver or Bronze the feeling is all the same.... Our Country is Winning with these Fantastic Athletes....
We are sitting on our couches, chairs, basically our asses... and who are we to say they are undeserving of our respect because they didn't get a gold! As far as I am concerned each and every Proud Canadian Athlete in Vancouver deserves a medal!!
Way to go Team Canada!

I agree with Daniela. While there is great Canadian pride in the efforts of all of our athletes, there are some questionable results.
We didn't win Silver in ladies curling, we gave away the Gold pure and simple.
How could 3 lady speed skaters sitting on top of the world in their discipline be eliminated by the 7th ranked Yanks and not progress. Perhaps they didn't think the Yanks would have the legs or a greater desire to win.
How can one sit points ahead in snowboarding as the last jumper with Gold within grasp and jump so poorly as to finish 4th?
I rue tomorrows hockey final agin the US if Canada cannot play better than they did against the Slovaks.
All of that said, our medal count is good and we do have more Gold than our neighbours to the south.
More concentration and focus ladies and gents. The final days and opportunities are upon you!

I am so proud of team Canada even though women curlers made me a bit disappointed....they should have won gold if Cheryl played as good as she always does....anyway it is GAME...unexpected thing always happens...but i am still proud off you all.
GO CANADA GO !!! GO for GOLD hockey team

I have read many of the comments contained here and I realize our national pride is coming out of us all because of these women and men who have dedicated themselves in mind, body and soul to commit their time and efforts for our country. A medal is a medal weither gold silver or bronze and doing your personal best at that sport you have dedicated your life to. Lets not forget and appreciate what all the participants of the Olympics have done for our nation. I salute all the atheletes to the world we are here to stay on the theatre of sports... so all you nay sayers get with what we are "CANADIANS" so here is my slogan "CANADIAN FOREVER FOREVER CANADIAN" Be proud of what so few have done for so many here at this moment for our national pride

Way to go atheletes! We should haveall of you run our country. Nobody else has brought a nation together like you have.
And everybody on here seems to have lost their sence of humour, Selles is not against Candada, just unlucky. I got selles.

What a night! Anyone who is disappointed in the Women's curling team getting a silver medal didn't watch the game. It was a nail biter that came down to the last rock in an extra end. The team played incredibly! Way to go ladies! The men's skating team deserves our admiration. Even in the midst of dirty moves on the part of the american skater who was DQ'd, our players skated clean, and well. And now have the medals to show for it. Now the hockey game. Heart stopper!! Haven't seen the net come off so many times in one game in my life! And the delay waiting to see if the first goal was legal-- were they trying to give us all an ulcer? What was that about! It's over now. Now its the USA that's in the sights. Look out. We've got your number and we're thirsty for gold!!

Shame DMPJ. That is not how it goes. There are no losers competing at the Olympics. They have had to be winners many times before achieving a place on the Olympic Team. Now they continue to give their all to win again here. Winning a bronze medal is a worthy achievment, winning a silver is an awesome achievement and winning a gold is the ultimate achievement. We as Canadians are PROUD of them ALL. Go Canada Go !!!

Oh DMPJ, you must live a miserable life with that attitude. Do you have any concept of what it takes to get to the level of competition in the Olympics. What do you mean you "don't win silver, you lose the gold." At that level of play, you are a WINNER just BEING THERE. Stop being a killjoy and get with the program.

I am proud of you TEAM CANADA!
Go-Canada-Go!!

Our athletes are doing very well - they have earned the pride of a nation and the respect of the other nations. The women`s curling ending with a silver was disappointing, especially considering they got to that game by dominating the last end with the hammer, but before people throw them under the bus, please keep in mind they got to the tenth in the lead because Swedem committed two errors ad gave up steals - they were no less disappointed with themselves over those nearly epic mistakes than the Canadian squad is with their having unravelled over the last two ends. They are competing against the best, and it is a game of mistakes as much as it is a game of skill - in my opinion, the better team won.

For the hockey, well, I have to agree - this team is a powerhouse on paper, but they aren`t on ice. Hopefully they can re-find the sense of urgency that they had against the Russians, or they`re going to find themselves in a scrape against the US tea, which might not have the star power of the Russions, but do have a deeper defense and a hot goalie.

My only true disappointment thus far is Apollo Ohno`s comments against the judging - every time I try to appreciate this guy`s raw talent he opens his mouth and proves he is a self-impressed prima donna.

We DO own the podium!! Congratulations to all of our wonderful athletes, winners, placers and supporting team members, we would not be Canada without each and everyone of you. Please keep up at all your hard work and Canada will be with you in Russia in 4 years.

So much hype about which team has the best NHL players, be it the U.S. or Canada. When this is all over, they will all go back to their million dollar jobs and skate side by side and completely forget about these Olympics, rest assured this will happen.

CONGRATS Canada!!!

"Bang your drum a littler louder, so the whole world can hear"

Go Canada!!!!!

I am and always have been a proud Canadian, and the 2010 Olympic Winter Games have made me even more so. Every chance I've had, I've watched the games, and love the incredible Canadian spirit that has shone in our athletes and the fans. To make it to the podium is an awesome feat, whether bronze, silver or gold (WOW, we now lead the world in gold... that's incredible!).

I'm further inspired by those who have expressed themselves with positive words and passion above! As to the armchair critics/complainers, well, we simply need to consider where those comments are coming from (i.e., someone SITTING at a computer keyboard - it never ceases to amaze me how the anonymity of the internet can bring forth such negativity and crassness from some!).

Our athletes have shown incredible strength, determination, grace, teamwork and sportsmanship... they deserve nothing but kudos!

Canada will annihlate USA and you take this to the bank.

Dear DMPJ: you have clearly lost your ability to think like a Canadian because you're too busy doing a moronic fist-pumping dance celebrating a gold. If you've ever done anything athletic I'd be surprised, as you would've experienced what it was like to try your absolute best and still be beaten. Does that take away from the fact that you left it all out there? Only if you are a defeatest focused only on wining and whining. I can hear you now..."Sounds like "loserspeak" to me. I suggest that the attitude you are putting forward pushes us closer to a very un-Canadian posture that is part of this "Own the Podium" used car sales type mantra. Good luck in life buddy...you're going to need it!

extremely proud of all our athletes.
For those people saying Canada rested on their laurels
against the Slovaks do not know much about hockey.
They were the most under-rated team and arguably the toughest
team to play against in the tournament.
Playing the Americans will be another tough test ,but more suited to
our style of play.
I am confident Canada will win the gold but remember never underestimate
you're opponent.
60 good minutes of hockey is what our boys will give.....cant wait to hear the singing of
'O CANADA'

Apollo Ono you are a disgrace to U.S. Speed Skating with you comments about OUR judges. When you go to Korea and you learn from their skaters and their "skating techniques" then what do you expect but to be DQed like a lot of the Korean speed skating athletes. Shame on you, I hope your father is proud of you now!!!!

All those beautiful young Canadians can go home, proud of the fact that they did their very best. Whatever the outcome was. None of them lost. They've won our hearts and made us all even more proud to be Canadian. Not to mention the what a great experience it was for all of them. It's great to be Canadian.

Go Canada Go...... we are good for gold

DMJP, in this case unfortunately you are dead right - our women curlers LOST gold. Threw it away to be exact , choked like a baby on a week old muffin!! Then to stand around like its nothing.."oh well, sorry girls, we had fun anyway didn't we?". Geez, with that kind of intensity its no wonder you lost. Helloooo...News Flash Cheryl..this wasn't a weekend cash spiel you know...gold medals are hard to come by for this country..and you won't be getting a second chance!
Sigh...this is what separates the Sandra Schmirlers of the sport from the 'runners-up'.

Now, Cheryl we want you to go home and practice your wide open nose-hits.

Congratulations to all the Olympians, their coaches, families!
All of Canada is proud of you, your hard work and achievements - no matter how you do in the Olympics. You are all winners, regardless of medal standings.

DMPJ thinks only the gold medal people win, and everyone else is a loser. DMPJ, does that mean you're only proud of 8 people in Canada, everyone else is a loser, including you? You are entitled to your opinion but I respectfully disagree.

A true olympian is not just measured by the gold that hangs around their neck, but by their spirit, integrity, hard work, perseverance and talent.

For example, Joannie Rochette is MORE than a winner to me. I am SO proud of her. My hugs and prayers go to her and her family and I could NOT be more proud of her.

Congrats to the curling team! You ROCK!!!! (get it... rock! :) )

BEST WISHES TO ALL! Go CANADA GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

GO CANADA GO!!!!! Special Congratulations to all medals athletic winner's way to go Canada you are the best, and if you did not get a medal this Olympics, it is tough but it shows that you are the best by being at the Olympics representing Canada,
For the Men's hockey team: The complete nation is counting on you to take on the Gold medal in Canadian soil, sweet!! but don't be lay back as you did in last night's game. You need to have fun, play harder and better than you did against Russia to get that Gold and win against the USA, you can do it Canada!. On Fridays against Slovakia game the Canadian team seemed disoriented and out of position and in the third period and last 7 it was too stressful to watch as Canada "almost" lost it. GO CANADA GO!!! lets get that Gold medal! you can do it!

Congratulations Canada on a successful night and a successful olympics. Congratulations to the women's curling team who demonstrated some amazing shots over the course of the tournament.
Congratulations to the short track team who obtained their medals while looking very confident.
And congratulations to the men's hockey team on a hard fought victory. I was impressed by Slovakia's play to date and a little relieved that you beat them.

I am a proud Canadian grandmother who is doubly proud of our atheletes...ALL of them....we are a big country with a small population that has done us all proud by hosting a great Olympics....CONGRATULATIONS CANADA!

these hockey games prove once and for all fighting doesn't belong in hockey. those goons that think that fighting is part of the game is either stupid or a neanderthal thinking person. it has been a wonderful and entertaining hockey whether u cheer for canada or the others. the only dark side in all this tournament was the canadian fans blasting u.s. for beating them and the racists comment towards the americans. but even though the americans will beat the canadians it will be interesting to see the comments coming from that game. go u.s.a. they have class.

Those who seems to be half Canadians will come and rub my ass after we kick the ass
of USA HOCKEY tean 2morr.
Go Canada go!Go bring the hockey gold Canadians!!

Our women's curling team didn't win Silver . . . they lost the Gold because she missed a wide open take out. So the better team won the Gold.

WoW Go Canada Go
But lets talk hockey first off
Our woman hockey rocks
And the men team not so so they have to play the game of there life in the gold mental to beat the USA and they will but then again anytime we beat the USA is a great thing
But the big deal should be on the woman team not the mens the womans player make peanuts and the the mens make million and we should have cheered hard and louder for the women team, wtg team Canada
What a great time to be a proud Canadian
wtg to all our men and women great job

HEY ROSCOE! HOW MANY STONES HAVE YOU THROWN IN THE OLYMPICS? CHERYL SHOWED GREAT RESTRANT. I'M SURE SHE WAS DISAPOINTED. BUT LOST WITH GRACE AND DIGNITY, SOMETHING YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT

Win or Lose.........you do us all PROUD just by competing in the Olympics. Way to go CANADA

Go Canada Go! Awesome olympics for us all. To the person who said, "I thought that we were supposed to be good at curling in reference to us ONLY winning a silver. A silver medal is a great achievement. As for the Men's hockey team beating the USA. I think that they will but they have to neutralize Rafalski and we need to see the effort level that was seen against the Russians and the USA in the first game. Go Canada Go!
Oh for any "own the podium" bashers out there. Per capita we are owning the podium. USA has a few more medals, sure, but less gold and they have 300 million to our 33 million. We could finish with the most gold medals and that means we have the most Olympic champions. I love these Olympics. Too bad the hockey jerseys are so expensive though.

TO DMPJ

How the heck do you think they got to the gold medal match? Certainly not by losing. They EARNED, WON, whatever you want to call it, the silver medal just by winning the last round to advance to the final. If you think you can do better, I suggest you try out for the ladies team next year. Otherwise close your mouth, and thank these wonderful Canadians for doing so very well at the games.

Attention DMPJ who said that one doesn't win a silver medal, they just lost the gold.??
How many gold medals have you lost? Never competed? Then shut up!
being 2nd in the WORLD is a great accomplishment.
GO CANADA GO!

I came to Canada from England in 1964 and it was the best think I ever did. I love Canada (and almost all Canadians lol) We have done exceptionaly well considering our small population. Don't look at the downside, look at the upside. Our Women have been great. Including the Curlers. What a great game. Go Canada Go!

Hey DMPJ, why is the glass half-empty for you? The women's curling team nearly clinched the Gold but didn't and still placed second overall. I think being on the podium is one heck of an accomplishment and you, as a fellow Canadian, could try to be more supportive of your athletes! As for Friday, we OWNED the podium in the men's 500-m short track and 5,000-m relay :o)
GO CANADA GO!!!

Pray for the hockey boys.....they'll probably need it.

Our Father who art in Vancouver, hockey be thy name.
Thy will be done, the gold will be won, on ice as well as in the stands. Give us this day, our hockey sticks, and forgive us our penalties as we forgive those who cross check against us. Lead us not into elimination but deliver us to victory. In the name of the Canadian hockey teams,
AMEN
GO CANADA GO

We are merely the spectators who revel in the joys of victory and feel the heartache of defeat. The athletes are the participants who LIVE the victories and heartaches. All we as spectators need to do continue giving encouragement and support to all our athletes no matter where they finish - on the podium or not. My heart swells with pride to see a Canadian win and with total admiration for any athlete to who dedicates a part of their life in attaining their goal for the pride of a nation.

I am so proud of the amazing Canadian people who have pulled together to make this all happen - your vision, your effort, your tenacity, your belief. I salute all of you! Contratulation. You're an inspiration to us all.

(L) THE OLYMPICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(L)

I think your missing the point. Any athelete that puts their heart and soul into a sport and makes the Olympic team whether they medal or not are Gold in my book. I am a PROUD CANADIAN!!!!

the best part of these games was to watch hockey the way hockey should be played and agree with john5,fighting is not part of hockey and when the n.h.l wakes up and start playing olympic style of hockey then hockey will never survive. whether your cheering for canada or the others hockey is not the end of the world if your team looses.canadian fans start looking and sounding like completely no class fans.talking to some people from vancouver they are ambarrising to some of the over the top celebration,i'm not saying singalong and handshake but when the fans start calling the other fans to go home and f*** off and the line has been crossed. some people from different countries calling canadians morons, worst olympic been at.

Hey silver is losing ? What a silly comment.
And lets work at keeping this alive. Promote Canada. Tourism is a renewable industry. The games showed we are a fun place to be...lets keep it up..

I also think a 'SHARE THE PODIUM' theme would have been better. For those who see only Gold this is lost on them...but for the rest of us. Hey just being there is great.

Also nice to see both official languages now being used. In case anyone missed it, the Quebec athletes wear our colours with pride as well.

Go Canada Allez Canada

Dr Mike Ottawa

Im a PROUD CANADIAN :)
GO CANADA GO!!!

go canada lets "GET "ER" DONE"

Another proud Canadian :)

SKATERS - WE PROUD OF YOU, KEEP THE SAME SPIRIT -

i think ann was being sarcastic actually read her comment she is hopeing for a win for canada not the usa thats why she bet on usa cause she never wins ..dimwit.. GO CANADA GO!!!!!!!! very proud of all our athletes..

some of these comments are so stupid you wonder how some of these people get home at night.first get rid of women hockey, when their is some competition out there then go for it but when only 2 teams can actually play the game what is the point.second get rid of curling, when house cleaning becomes a sport then i'll compete with the best of them, that game belongs to house league , some people feel great that we compete in that sport, what a waste of taxpayers money going to the sport. olympics is for stamina and speed, not who could send a stone on ice and who could clean the ice faster than their opponent.i've been to ice rinks where curling is played and most of those players should be on the show the looser(who could loose the weight).if you play that game than good for you, you stay out of trouble but as an olympic event, give me a break. when t.s.n shows that game and the ratings are high,it tells me their is a lot of people out their that should be cleaning their house instead of watching some person sweeping on television.

To our Canadian Hockey team,
Just a little tip. There is a wave of positive energy in Canada, from coast to coast to coast. I have never felt it before but it is electric. Tap into this and ride the wave. Remember when you first laced up your skates for a big hockey game, standing at the ice rink door, surround by your friends and your family in the stands, you watch as the zamboni cleans the ice and then you get to burst through that door and play the game you love. There are people all over this great country of ours as well as in other parts of the world waiting to see you go, play and have fun. There is so much depth and skill on your team that is waiting to bust out and show the world why this is our game and we love to play it. We love to watch it. Tomorrow don't think about gold, just think about why you woke up all those early mornings and weekends included to go out into the cold, suit up in the stinky gear that you like, and practice. Why you would go to the outdoor rinks and step into a pick up game. it is because for the love of the game.Tomorrow show the world who you are and why hockey is our game.

kathy personal advice, by winning in hockey doesn't give canada any respect to the rest of the world because no one in the world gives a danm about hockey.hockey is a game of loosers,by the way whether it means anything the u.s.a. is going to win . take a look at figure skating where the chinese and the koreans are winning, thats where canada should concentrate ,where bullying is not allowed.another is marathon skiing and biothlon where stamina and speed is the outmost.the problem with hockey now is that its too white and you got to be wealthy,no one in the poor catagory is able to participate. kathy if you want people in the rest of the world to think what canada is all about, im one canadian who is sick and tired of having hockey the prime example of what were made of.to bad vancouver will end with hockey,i wish they end with real athletes like a type of marathon on skiis ending in the stadium, not those overpaid slobs.

WOW!!!

13 GOLD MEDALS!!!! AWESOME!!! What an achievement from team Canada, that is the overall record. And if the mens hockey teams manages another gold tonight, they will break the record for most gold medal won at the winter olympic games.

who would have thought!!!

GO CANADA GO!!!!! woooo hooooo!!!!

hey 'no brainer'.... go suck on a puck.

wow what a come back,i'm shock and wouldn't be able to sleep tonight from those intellectual words, you must got that from some roadside washroom wall. mr.berry my background is mostly in sports and played most sports that you like , and i mean semi-pro.therefore i know what im talking about. and by the way the americans will do exactly what you say i should do to the canadians.as a canadian were spending too much money on useless sports that no one else is playing, example curling, women hockey. if men hockey doesn't win today gold, which i predict they would not because their no class team.the next olympic would barely win a medal and also the next after.go u.s.a.

What a game...what great fun and oh so happy when Crosby scored the last goal...
for GOLD.... Yeah, we beat the U.S. and we can do it any time.....
Way to go guys!!! Congratulations and thank you........

CANADA WINS 14 GOLD MEDALS....

And this one, is arguably the best of the lot. Fantastic performance, great game, stunning goal to seal it.

Congrats team Canada.... I am so proud to be Canadian.
