Coming soon to an NHL arena near you: The Mike Danton Comeback Story.

Well, maybe.

In an interview with Sportsnet's Nick Kypreos, the former NHLer stated emphatically that he wants to return to the NHL after spending five-and-a-half years in prison for conspiracy to commit murder. Danton claims he attempted to have his father, Steve Jefferson, killed. The FBI has always maintained it was his agent David Frost that Danton wanted dead. Regardless of whom he attempted to eliminate, the fact remains that Danton is a free man today, having been granted full parole on Sept. 11.

Should Danton be allowed to play again? Let us know what you think in the comments.

I watched the interview with Nick Kypreos and my impression was that Mike Danton is clearly remorseful for his crimes, articulate, and well adjusted considering what he has been through. I think Mike Danton should definitely get a second chance to play hockey in the NHL.

Sometimes in life the bump can be bigger than you think and it can effect your thinking, and sometimes in life those same people need a bump to put them back on the road again, so give the man a chance to prove he is still a hockey player, a 1 year base salary with bonus for goals, and assists and a high plus readings.

The Maple Leafs should sign him up. He can t be any worse than the bunch of rejjects and misfits that wear the Toronto Maple Leaf jerseys. Bring back McCabe Darcy Tucker and even Tie Domi. Curtis Joseph and even Eddie Belfour would be an improvement in goal.
