BEER   Aug 27, 2009 48 Comments

Yeah! You know what else? We train with sled dogs in sub-arctic temperatures. We eat nothing but vulcanized rubber discs and back bacon for sustenance. We only drink beer and double-doubles because all our water is used for pristine frozen playing surfaces. We have 45 different words for five-hole. Our national smell is the hockey glove. Even our diapers have fight straps. Zamboni drivers are our modern-day shamans. We learn to throw a haymaker before we learn to walk. The 1972 Series was our moon-landing. We finished 7th at the 2006 Winter Games... Oh. Uh, forget that last one.

THIS IS A GREAT SPOT. WELL WRITTEN AND PUT TOGETHER. GO CANADA

I once played 2 periods with a team of Nunavat polar bears (Ursus Maritimus). We played against a pack of Siberian wolves (Canus lupus). It was brutal. Afterwords we all had a beer and cooked up some wapiti.

I'am the oldest man that there ever was i invented hockey and I scored the very very very first goal in hockey and i dont have any teeth to prove it

I got fed Kraft Dinner, while my hockey player brother got pre-game steak .... I got hand me downs while my hockey playing brother got new gear. They got the girls, while I just got... your brother is cute ... My brothers got hockey school vacations, I got to tag along with smelly gear .. 3 bags to be exact ..... you do not have to play the game to be a part of it.

I am a hockey daughter and wife. I grew up at the rinks, and my children will too. I must give credit to Caper for the comment "you do not have to play the game to be a part of it." We plan birthday parties around the home team's schedule. This is our game, and you bet your a** 2010 will be our year!

That's awesome...

From Montreal.

What a way cool spot! It gets the fever going!
In the summer, we lower the temperature in the house to "rink"

I remember when it was -50 C they would cancel school because it was too cold. We would all get together and play hockey OUTSIDE for at least a couple of hours. It was never too cold. My parents would also bring hot chocolate out to the rink so we wouldnt have to go home to warm up. GO CANADA GO

We Canadians are nice people. BUT NOT ON THE ICE . GO CANADA GO.

We sold 19,300 tickets to a SCRIMMAGE.
American teams don't sell out for the playoffs.

We had a temporary stand in for my brother in law who was my sons sponsor for confirmation we finished our championship game, won, got to the church just in time for the drop of the puck I mean start of the mass. Cut lip and all. awesome clip everyone has a story whats yours?

I got married on a Saturday at 7:30PM, was on the ice playing hockey at 10:30PM in a tournament. We also played 2 games on Sunday, won the tournament, was sponsored by a bar, so had a party at the bar after.
To top it off, my new wife was seated next to my ex-wife at the game on our wedding night.
That's hockey!!!

that rules that gives me shivers.

JESUS SAVES!!!!......................PASSES THE PUCK TO MOSES HE SHOOTS HE SCORES!!.....

What is football?

The first time I was married, left the reception early so I could catch HNC.Then the honeymoon started.Did the same thing the second time too.Just can't miss HNC on Saturday night.

When I was 14 and we fell behind the Soviets 4-2 in the first game of the 72 series I went into the basement, turned off the lights, layed down and died inside. the game was over for me. I could not believe the next day, after the loss, that life could carry on as I knew it. I expected blood in the streets. Alas, I now go to bed every night with visions of Paul Henderson's game winning goal dancing in my head and I know that all is well with the world. My life would have been a living hell had we lost that series. But we didn't and I not only survived, I thrived. I am Canadian!

Can;t hear a thing, the music is TOO LOUD

Love the commercial. No country has a stronger and more loyal affection for a sport than Canucks have for hockey. We should be proud. We are the best in the world. Canada kicks butt!!!

GO Team U.S.A.!!!

The best game on the planet that takes athletic ability, co-ordination, intelligence and pure and utter team-work, invented in the same country that invented the light bulb, the game of basketball, the green barrette etc etc etc. but never need to show-off. Is also the the home of the greatest country in the universe that an infinite number of other countries wish they were like, especially when travelling around this planet of ours, when it is found out about that these people are CANADIAN. Then treat us with great respect, because, we also treat other with the same. Hockey.....the best game, anywhere!!!

I coached hockey for many years. It is an absolute thrill to see a player who you coached take to the ice wearing a pro jersey. Mom's and Dad's remember, it's just a game but the children we put through our Canadian programs are the most well rounded adults when they grow up. Look at our Canadian Icons, all are excellent mentors and heros for our kids to look up to.

The Guy shoots the pucks and scores da goals, we love the Guy, #10.

I remember discovering that light bulbs in a table lamp relocated on the lake rink with a long extension cord could survive frigid temperatures. I'd be the first on the ice, and the last to leave...because I would be the only one there. My buddies were only allowed over during sunlight.....To this day, Shoal Lake 40 First Nation is producing great skaters and NHL bound playas.

Paul Henderson was my neighbor back in 1972, i was 14, hockey was my world. I just remember going nuts when he scored the final goal back in game 8. Thank's so much for giving me such a great memory Team Canada, I hope you guys can do it for another youngster in 2010. GO CANADA GO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love it - the concept, the editing, the music - congratulations. I tried to get it on my facebook, not on twitter.

Hockey is who we are. There is ICE in the viens of every true Canadian!!!

I am a 51 year old goaltender, playing since I was 8 (late start). I am having more fun now, bad knees and all, than I ever did. It is fun burning a 25 year old on a breakaway!!
Hockey is Good! Hockey is Great! Hockey is LIFE! Summer and winter!!! Go Canada Go!!

I remember leaving the house at 4am with my hockey bag slung over one shoulder, and my stick with my skates over the blade on the other. I remember walking 2.5 miles in the dead of winter in order to get to the practice. Game nights were, get home from school, a quick light meal, and then grab the gear and hustle my ass off to the rink. Mom was a single mother who gave her Canadian Sons the joy of being in an organized house league. I was 12 years old, and my younger brother was a stout 6.5 yrs. We thrived because of parents who cared enough to allow us to play the game. Well, that was 34 years ago and I still can smell the crisp air, the ice, and the musty dressing rooms after the game. It is astounding what a Canadian can remember when they associate our game to it. GOOD LUCK IN 2010 TEAM CANADA!

Bettman doesnt want another Canadian hockey team because the Americans would have no chance at a cup!!!!!!!!!

Hockey to me is like a meal- essential to life and always (or almost always) lights up your spirit. I play hockey 3 times a week all year round- except when we vacation somewhere that doesn't have a rink. I plan my work week around my hockey games not the reverse. I am only 59 so I still have many good years of hockey left. For 3 months 39 other guys (including 1 girl) and I held the Guinness world record for the longest hockey game (54 hrs- Dec 12, 2002). Every record before and since has been held by- you guessed it- Canadians (current record is 240 hours- team from Edmonton)! Something that happened to me has probably happened to many other of you ice warriors- if only to illustrate that when you are in the game- you forget everything else. I was going for the puck and I collided with a guy and sticks, skates were flying everywhere. Everybody seemed none the worse for wear and we played for another 15 min or so until someone said that they noticed a trail of blood coming from me. We looked and sure enough- blood was overflowing the boot of my skate. A skate blade had sliced through my leg just below the shin pad. 21 stitches later and I was as good as new. You need to love the game to play it!

Can't Wait For Hockey Season To start, both mine and the NHL's. And Absoulutley Can't Wait for the Olympics. GO CANADA GO!

Hockey....to you it's a game, to me, it's WAR!!

My wife didn't know hockey until I took her to a Greyhound hockey game. I asked her to marry me and it has been bliss ever since!!!!!
Goooooooooooooo Hoouunndds!!!!!!!!

The first hockey stick was made in Canada, by a beaver.

I was born and raised in Northern Ontario. One winter day, when I was 10, it got to minus 50 so they closed the schools. So my friends and I got together and played road hockey all day until our mothers made us come home for supper. Furthermore ... we had one streetlight in our little community. It witnessed countless nights of road hockey, bloody noses, bruised shins, slapshots, snow-chunk goal posts carved from the 10 foot high snow banks, and a million calls of "car!" as we ceded our streetscape to allow commuters to pass. We learned to boradcast our actions in a "play by play" rush down the road. We learned French by watching the Montreal Canadiens on the French channel (we only had 2 TV channels ... on Enlgish and one French). In closing, here are the famous words from the end of many French language hockey games. "Madames et Monsieurs. Ladies and Gentlemen. Da T'urd star. Le trosiemme etoile. Number 10, Numero dix, ... Guuuyyy a'Lafleurrrr!!!"

The only reason there are more then six players on the NHL teams is to level the field for other nations to even have a chance of winning. If you look back at the beginning of hockey as we know it,the game was two periods of 45 minutes with seven players on each team .The seventh player from each team was used to keep the snow off the rink!!! and to hand out beer!

Hockey Is Our blood, everywhere else it's just a game! We bleed hockey, but our blood will turns GOLD !!!!!! OH YA!!!!!!

Canada is a great country after all. My fiance and I are considering a move there. We want to visit first. We use a great cheap flights place when we go to places like mexico or within USA. The economy is much better in Canada than in the US, the people are nicer, and the crime is less from what I've been able to gather from the web, tv, and people I've crossed. Lots of lovely natural beauty to behold there, too. http://www.itravel2000.com
